5-Star Review
“These are great. Have made them several times.” -Kris
Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots Recipe
Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots are my favorite kid-friendly finger food! They remind me of my Hash Brown Potato Casserole , except these tater tots are sweet and spicy. While baking, the brown sugar creates a perfect stickiness, balanced with spicy cayenne pepper, crispy bacon, and tender tater tots—what’s not to love?
They are a hit for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and and are one of the best Super Bowl Appetizers . They’re a tasty alternative to typical french fries and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients1x2x3x
- ▢ 24 frozen tater tots room temperature
- ▢ 6 slices bacon
- ▢ ¼ cup dark brown sugar packed
- ▢ 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cayenne pepper. ¼ cup dark brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Sprinkle the brown sugar/cayenne pepper mix on top of the bacon and rub the mixture into the bacon. 6 slices bacon
- Cut each slice of bacon into 4 equal pieces.
- Wrap the bacon around the tater tot and secure with a toothpick. 24 frozen tater tots
- Place the tater tot seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process with all the tater tots.
- Bake the tater tots at 400°F for 20-25 minutes and flip halfway through cooking. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Becky’s Tips
- Use thin cut bacon strips. Thick cut bacon takes longer to bake.
- Don’t cook the bacon before wrapping. Wrap raw strip around the tot and bake together.
- Soaking toothpicks in water helps prevent them from burning.
- Use a wire rack while baking. Extra grease from bacon will collect in the baking sheet and tots will be crispy.
- Always use frozen tots.

How to Store and Reheat
Refrigerate : Transfer leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate for 2-3 days. To reheat, bake them at 350°F for 10 minutes.
Freeze before baking : Once all the tater tots are wrapped in raw bacon and secured with a toothpick, line them in a baking sheet and freeze for 2 hours. Afterwards, transfer them to a storage bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Bake at 400°F for 30-35 minutes.
Freeze after baking : Once all the tots are baked, let them cool at room temperature. Pop them in a freezer safe bag and freeze for 1-2 months. To reheat, bake them at 350°F for 20 minutes or until warmed through.
