Easy Bailey’s Milkshake Recipe

You only need 3 simple ingredients to whip up this boozy ice cream shake, and let me tell you—it comes together fast . Almost too fast, if you ask me. It’s dangerously easy to blend one up whenever the craving hits, which for me…is often!

I like to use Bailey’s or make this homemade Irish cream . It’s a combination of whiskey, cream, sweetened condensed milk, coffee, and a couple of other ingredients that add the deep coffee/chocolate flavor to the milkshake. Since I’m a true coffee lover, I used coffee-flavored ice cream, but you can also use vanilla or chocolate.

Ingredients1x2x3x

  • ▢ 1 cup coffee ice cream 150 grams, vanilla or chocolate are also good options
  • ▢ 1 cup milk 227 grams, any type of milk works
  • ▢ 3 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream 85 grams, or use Kahlua for a deeper coffee flavor

Boozy Milkshake Toppings

To finish off this simple Irish cream milkshake, add a few toppings:

  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Whipped topping
  • Caramel sauce
  • Magic chocolate shell
  • Sprinkles

How to Store

These Irish cream milkshakes are best served as soon as they’re made. Since it’s just one step, I don’t recommend making them ahead of time or storing them for later.

When milkshakes are frozen, they become too solid to drink, but the texture isn’t quite as smooth and creamy when they melt or thaw. But you certainly can freeze them if you like.

Serving Suggestions

Bailey’s milkshakes are great for St. Patrick’s Day. I love serving them with a batch of buttery shortbread cookies on the side—the richness of the cookies pairs perfectly with the creamy, boozy shake. For an extra pop of color and fun, I like to bake a batch of tie-dyed cookies swirled with vibrant shades of green. And since the adults are sipping milkshakes, I make sure the kids feel just as special by pouring them glasses of green mint milk —it’s simple, sweet, and totally holiday-ready!
