When I’m looking for a quick and easy breakfast option, this coffee smoothie fits the bill. I prepare it with a cup of strong coffee, bananas, oats, cinnamon almond butter, cocoa powder, and then add a splash of heavy cream to thicken it up and make it uber creamy. I find it’s ideal for a quick breakfast or mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Easy Coffee Smoothie Recipe

If you are anything like me and need a cup (or two!) of coffee before you start the day, you are going to love this recipe. This smoothie delivers just the right amount of a caffeine boost to get my day off to a good start. Perfect for a quick breakfast, or when I need a bit of energy to get through a busy afternoon. Prepared with all natural ingredients, this smoothie is under 300 calories with a good amount of protein and fiber.

Tips for Beginners

  • For more coffee flavor . Pour cooled, brewed coffee into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. Use these coffee ice cubes in place of regular ice cubes in the recipe.
  • For a sweeter smoothie . Add honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice to taste.
  • For an extra-cold smoothie. Slice and freeze the banana overnight.
  • Swap the heavy cream. I love how the cream makes this smoothie rich and creamy, but you can use any type of milk, like 2% or any plant-based milk like oat, almond, or coconut.

How to Store

Smoothies are always best enjoyed as soon as you’ve made them. Once you blend everything, the drink starts to oxidize so nutrients slowly start to decrease and the flavor will change.

If you can’t drink it straight away, keep it covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Give it a stir before drinking as the ingredients may have settled.

If you plan on making it ahead of time, it’s best not to add the ice to the blender, as this will dilute the drink.

Serving Suggestions

Though I often do grab this smoothie for a quick and easy breakfast, when I have more time, I’ll pair it with a sunny side up egg and grab a banana chocolate chip muffin to stash in my bag for an afternoon treat. When I’m preparing a weekend brunch, this smoothie is great to sip on before I serve something a little more fancy like this eggs Benedict casserole .

It’s better to stock up on things like grains, seasonings and spices, baking essentials, oils, condiments, canned and frozen foods, etc. so I can just grab them when I need them. These things have a long shelf life , so I keep them in my kitchen for convenience.

However, I do have to go to the supermarket sometimes, and there’s a way to make that trip easy and hassle-free: I keep a grocery list! If I go in blindly, I’ll leave with things I don’t need, and nothing that actually helps me prepare a good meal.

I’ve got you covered! I created an easy grocery list filled with all of the essentials. Plus there’s a free printable version that you can take with you to the grocery store. It has everything you need to stock your pantry, your freezer, and your refrigerator.
