Brown Sugar Ham Steak Recipe
If you’re not up to a full holiday dinner, try this glazed ham steak recipe for your next small get-together. All you need is 5 minutes of prep and a few simple ingredients that come together to create a sweet and flavorful glaze. If you have any leftover, this glaze recipe is so good on Grilled Pork Chops too!

- ▢ 2 tablespoons brown sugar use all brown sugar or all honey instead of both
- ▢ 1 tablespoon honey or try maple syrup
- ▢ 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or use any grainy mustard
- ▢ ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ▢ 1 clove garlic minced
- ▢ ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ▢ 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (⅛ stick)
- ▢ 16 ounces cooked ham steaks (1 (8-ounce) steaks), boneless or bone-in both work

- In a small bowl, whisk the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and pepper together. 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 clove garlic, ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- In a large nonstick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Add in the ham steaks and cook on each side until lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. 16 ounces cooked ham steaks
- Brush both sides of the ham steaks with your glaze and cook until caramelized, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from the skillet and slice each ham steak in half. Serve and enjoy.

How to Make Glazed Ham Steaks Step by Step

Make the glaze: In a small bowl whisk 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 minced clove of garlic, and ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper together.

Sear the ham: In a large nonstick skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add in 16 ounces of cooked ham steaks and cook on each side until lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Glaze the ham: Brush both sides of the ham steaks with your glaze and cook until caramelized, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Slice, serve, and enjoy: Remove from the skillet and slice each ham steak in half. Serve and enjoy.
How to Store and Reheat
Store leftover glazed ham steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan set over medium-low heat or in the microwave in 30-second increments until warmed through.
Freeze brown sugar glazed ham steaks in an airtight container or Ziplock bag for up to 3 months. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

It’s better to stock up on things like grains, seasonings and spices, baking essentials, oils, condiments, canned and frozen foods, etc. so I can just grab them when I need them. These things have a long shelf life , so I keep them in my kitchen for convenience.
However, I do have to go to the supermarket sometimes, and there’s a way to make that trip easy and hassle-free: I keep a grocery list! If I go in blindly, I’ll leave with things I don’t need, and nothing that actually helps me prepare a good meal.
