How to make Instant Pot Spaghetti

  1. Saute the sausage and onion in the Instant Pot to brown.
  2. Add the garlic and seasonings.
  3. Stir in the sauce.
  4. Add in the spaghetti.
  5. Pour the water on top and cook on high pressure.
  6. Quick release and stir the spaghetti into the sauce.

Yes, you can easily make this recipe in a slow cooker. Brown the sausage and onions in a skillet and then add them to the Crockpot. Add in the sauce and spaghetti and stir in, and cook on low for 4 hours.

I love to use long pasta shapes like spaghetti or linguini for this recipe, but you can make it with shorter pasta like penne of fusilli. Just make sure that the pasta is covered with the water.

You can easily leave out the sausage in this recipe to make it meat-free and add in other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms. You could also use a plant based ground ‘beef’ like Beyond Meat.

Any leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days, and it can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw frozen spaghetti and sauce in the fridge overnight before reheating. You can reheat the dish on the stovetop til warmed through.

  • Press the Sauté button on the Instant Pot.
  • Once heated, add the sausage (or beef) and onion, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon. Cook for 4-5 minutes, until the meat is no longer pink, then add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute, seasoning with the Italian seasoning, salt, and red pepper. 1 pound ground Italian sausage, ½ small red onion, 3 cloves garlic, 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Press the Cancel button, then add in the sauce, stirring well. 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • Break the spaghetti in half and spread them in an even layer over the sauce mixture. Do not stir. 8 ounces spaghetti noodles
  • Add the remaining water to the pasta sauce jar, close, shake gently, and pour the saucy water over the pasta. Again, do not stir. 1 ½ cups water
  • Close the lid and secure the pressure valve. Cook on Manual High Pressure for 8 minutes. When the cooking time is up, perform a Quick Pressure release.
  • Carefully remove the lid and stir the cooked spaghetti into the sauce.
  • Serve immediately with Parmesan and your favorite pasta sides. Parmesan cheese

Essential Grocery List

It’s so helpful to have a basic grocery list to help me remember which foods to buy at the store. This food shopping list is my go-to!

It’s better to stock up on things like grains, seasonings and spices, baking essentials, oils, condiments, canned and frozen foods, etc. so I can just grab them when I need them. These things have a long shelf life , so I keep them in my kitchen for convenience.

However, I do have to go to the supermarket sometimes, and there’s a way to make that trip easy and hassle-free: I keep a grocery list! If I go in blindly, I’ll leave with things I don’t need, and nothing that actually helps me prepare a good meal.

In the list below, I’ve compiled everything I always have on my stock-up grocery list.
