“These were a hit for my kiddos! Next time we will make them together.” – Sabrina
Easy Pizza Sticks Recipe
I think these pizza sticks are pure genius. Talk about an easy appetizer! You know, around here, I have a thing for simple recipes that taste amazing and come together in a flash. This recipe for pepperoni pizza on a stick is fun, easy, customizable, and loved by all. These are one of my favorite kid-friendly Super Bowl appetizers.
I suggest you par-cook ingredients like sausage, hamburger, or raw veggies before adding them to the pizza sticks if you’ll be using them. And it may be a good idea to remove the skewers before serving the sticks to the kids.

How to Make Pizza Sticks Step by Step

Prep: Get the bamboo skewers ready by soaking them in warm water for at least 30 minutes so they don’t burn, or use metal skewers. Preheat your oven to 400°F, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and spray the foil with cooking spray so the dough doesn’t stick.

Prepare the dough: Unroll the 13.8 oz tube of refrigerated pizza dough onto a clean and lightly floured countertop. Combine ¼ cup of melted unsalted butter with ¾ tsp of garlic salt and 1 tbsp of chopped fresh basil. Brush the butter mixture lightly onto the dough.

Cut the dough, lengthwise, into 1″ wide strips.

Thread the pepperoni: Thread 5-7 mini pepperoni slices on each skewer, leaving enough space between each slice for the pizza dough.

Wrap the dough: Pierce the end of the dough strip with the pointed end of the skewer. Wrap the dough strip around the pepperoni on the skewer, allowing the meat to show through. Wrap the end of the dough strip around the bottom of the skewer to fasten. Pinch the dough ends together on each end so that it stays on the skewer.

Bake and serve: Place the pizza skewers on the baking sheet and brush with more of the garlic basil butter mixture. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the pizza dough turns a light golden brown.

Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle with 1 cup of freshly shredded mozzarella cheese and ¼ cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Allow the cheese to melt (place back in the hot oven, if necessary) and serve with 1 cup of pizza sauce.
Variations on Pizza Sticks
I chose to make our pizza sticks with pepperoni and basil, but you could layer on whatever toppings you love best.
- Meat: Use Italian sausage, hamburger chunks, par-cooked bacon pieces, ham, Canadian bacon, or chicken chunks.
- Veggies :Try Sweet peppers, onion, tomatoes, red onion, mushrooms, zucchini slices, or cooked potato chunks.
- Cheese : Top with cheddar, gruyere, Swiss, smoked gouda, Mexican Blend, Italian Blend, or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
- Others: Pineapple, black or green olives are always favorites!
How to Store
Store leftover pizza sticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 7-10 minutes, or until warmed through.
Freeze pizza sticks in a single layer on a lined baking sheet until solid, about 1-2 hours. Transfer to an airtight container or Ziplock bag to store for up to 3 months. Reheat directly from frozen, adding 5 minutes to the total time.
Serving Suggestions
I love to dip my pizza sticks in marinara —the more the better! I find they’re also great dipped into a creamy ranch dressing or a spicy Buffalo sauce .
