Hot Buttered Cheerios Recipe
Every party needs a snack mix! These classic Hot Buttered Cheerios with Worcestershire sauce are the perfect sweet and salty bite between hot dips and chicken wings . Whether it’s Sunday Night Football, a holiday party, or pre-dinner munching, this crunchy, irresistible snack hits the spot!
Ingredients1x2x3x
- ▢ 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ▢ 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- ▢ ¾ teaspoon seasoned salt Lowry’s or Penzey’s work well
- ▢ 3 cups Cheerios
- ▢ 3 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
- ▢ 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

- Set the oven to 200°F and place oven rack to center position.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt. 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, ¾ teaspoon seasoned salt
- Turn heat to medium-low. Add Cheerios and stir. 3 cups Cheerios, 3 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
- Continue stirring until cereals are coated and begin to brown, for about 3-4 minutes. Butter and Worcestershire sauce should be completely absorbed and cooked down.
- Sprinkle sugar over the cereal and stir. 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- Continue cooking and stirring another 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the cereal.
- They are done once the sugar has dissolved and caramelized.
- To ensure the cereal is completely dried out, spread the cereal onto a rimmed baking sheet and bake in a 200°F oven for 10 minutes (stir after 5 minutes).
- Pour the buttered Cheerios onto a sheet of aluminum foil and cool to the touch. Keep any leftovers in an airtight container or zipper bag.

How to Make Hot Buttered Cheerios Step by Step
Melt the butter & add cheerios : Melt 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Don’t let the butter burn.
Once the butter is melted, stir in 1½ tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and ¾ teaspoon seasoned salt.
Turn heat to medium-low. Add 3 cups of Cheerios and 3 cups of Honey Nut Cheerios and stir.
Continue stirring until cereals are coated and begin to brown, for about 3-4 minutes. The butter and Worcestershire sauce should be completely absorbed and cooked down.
Add sugar and keep stirring : Sprinkle 2 teaspoons granulated sugar over the cereal and stir.
Continue cooking and stirring for another 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the cereal. They are done once the sugar has dissolved and caramelized.
Bake and serve : To ensure the cereal is completely dried out, spread the cereal onto a rimmed baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 200°F for 10 minutes (stir after 5 minutes).
Pour the buttered Cheerios onto a sheet of aluminum foil and cool to the touch. Enjoy!

How to Store
Let the snack mix cool completely before serving or storing. Store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.

It’s better to stock up on things like grains, seasonings and spices, baking essentials, oils, condiments, canned and frozen foods, etc. so I can just grab them when I need them. These things have a long shelf life , so I keep them in my kitchen for convenience.
However, I do have to go to the supermarket sometimes, and there’s a way to make that trip easy and hassle-free: I keep a grocery list! If I go in blindly, I’ll leave with things I don’t need, and nothing that actually helps me prepare a good meal.
